Description

Designed specifically for offices and businesses with frequent binding needs, the Coverbind Accel Flex stands out as a reliable solution, capable of handling up to approximately 2,000 books annually. Should your requirements exceed this volume, the more automated Coverbind Accel Cube machine is worth considering.

This durable, fast, and convenient thermal binding machine caters to the diverse on-demand binding needs of small, medium, and large offices. As a valuable complement to the larger Accel Cube and Accel Ultra machines, the Accel Flex seamlessly integrates into your workflow. Impressively, it requires no warm-up time, making it instantly accessible to anyone in your office without the need for extensive training.

Streamlining the binding process into three easy steps, the Accel Flex ensures the creation of impeccably bound presentations, reports, proposals, manuals, yearbooks, and more. Operating at a remarkable speed, this desktop thermal binding machine can produce both hard and soft covers at a rate of up to 900 books per hour.

Notably, the Accel Flex accommodates both hard and soft cover books simultaneously, allowing for binding with various spine sizes, provided they fall within the 2" binding capacity overall. This versatile capability enables you to bind different jobs together, eliminating the need for frequent size changes and reducing overall operational hassle.

How to Use the Accel Flex:

  1. Operate the machine by turning it on and organizing your pages into a neat stack. Insert the stack into the spine size selector, and the screen will guide you on the appropriate Coverbind cover spine size based on the document thickness. This eliminates any guesswork, ensuring a polished final product. The Coverbind Flex accommodates a wide range of spine sizes, from 1/16" to 2".
  2. Place your page stack into the recommended cover size and insert it into the machine. You can add covers one by one or in batches, with the slot capable of holding up to a 2" thick spine. Depending on your document thickness, you can bind up to 15 documents at once*.
  3. With Drop&Go technology, you can leave the machine to bind while you attend to other tasks. Simply place your documents in, and the machine will complete the binding process in about 60 seconds*. The Flex will count down, emit a tone, and the light will turn red when the binding is finished. This signals that you can remove the documents, place them in the provided cooling rack, and proceed to bind the next batch. For optimal results, allow books to remain in the cooling rack for at least 2 minutes before handling. Thicker books may require additional time (refer to the tips below).

Helpful Tips:

  1. Use the Correct Cover Size - Always choose the appropriate cover size for your book's thickness to avoid over-stuffing. If the covers are overstuffed, the back and front pages may come loose. Ensure that all pages align flush and square with the covers to achieve a polished look and proper adherence to the glue.
  2. Avoid Using the Front Slider as a Clamp - The front slider serves as vertical support, not a clamp. Excessive clamping can push pages upward, hindering them from reaching the glue. Use the front slider gently for support, without applying excessive pressure.
  3. Allow Documents to Cool - Cooling is a crucial step in the binding process. After completing the binding, tap the covers gently on the sides and top. Move the book to the cooling station in an upright position for approximately 2 minutes. This tapping ensures pages settle into the glue, while the cooling process allows the glue to cure thoroughly.
  4. Wide-Spine Binding - Before heating, jog your document carefully. Place the cover into the heating unit as usual. After 15-20 seconds, press down firmly on the cover toward the heating plate to ensure the entire spine's width and length are firmly pressed against the plate. When the heating cycle concludes, tap the sides and top of the cover to ensure all pages align with the cover edges before removing them from the unit. Allow the cover extra cooling time, approximately 5-10 minutes, on the cooling rack.

How to Edit a Book After Bound:

You can edit Coverbind covers up to a maximum of 3 times while maintaining strong glue integrity. Follow these instructions for adding or removing pages using your Accel Flex thermal binder.

Adding a Page:

  1. Insert the page into the already bound document, allowing it to extend about 1/4” from the top.
  2. Place the document, spine side down, in the binding machine.
  3. Wait until the heating time decreases to 2 to 3 bars to ensure the glue is adequately heated.
  4. Gently tap the top of the document, causing the page to drop into the cover.
  5. Jog the pages for a smooth and even arrangement.
  6. Place the document in the cooling rack for 2 minutes.

Removing a Page:

  1. Mark the page you want to remove from your document.
  2. Place the document in the binding machine.
  3. Wait until the binding time decreases to 2 to 3 bars.
  4. Move the clamp forward while holding the document up, ensuring the page to remove is isolated in the middle.
  5. Slide the page to the side to completely remove it from the document, preventing any glue from affecting the rest.
  6. Jog the pages and then place the document in the cooling rack for 2 minutes.
