Coverbind FAQs

Q: How long do the covers have to sit in the cooling stand before I can use them?

A: Covers up to a 1/4" spine size should be ready for use after 1-2 minutes.  However, for larger spine sizes the cooling time should be longer as the amount of book binding adhesive takes a longer time to completely cool down.

Q: How do I make sure that all of the pages are going to be secured in the cover?

A: The following steps will always result in a secure bind of your documents:   1.) Select the right size cover for your document using the cover size selector.  2.)  Make sure the retractable support plate is holding the covers upright on the heating plate (do not use pressure!)  3.) Jog and tap the sheets during the binding cycle to ensure that all of the sheets are even and have made contact with the adhesive in the spine.  4.) Be sure to let the covers cool down at least 1-2 minutes prior to distribution-Remember larger spine sizes require a longer cool time prior to distribution.  It's simple:  Select the right size cover, jog and tap on three sides during the binding cycle, let the document cool long enough prior to distributing.

Q: I want to purchase the Coverbind 5000 Perfect Binding System, what kind of warranty does it have?

A: The Coverbind 5000 has a 2 year warranty.

Q: If I purchase my covers today and I decide that they are the wrong size can I return them?

A: You can return your covers as long as they are in the original packaging and it has been less than 30 days. For manufacturer defects the return policy is 6 months.

Q: If I purchase the Print on Demand cover, what type of printer would I need?

A: You can use a standard printer (DeskJet, inkjet) as long as you have an 11"x17" tray. Most laser printers that are capable of heavy weight stocks (180 to 220 GSM) and  can accomodate 12" x 18" sheets of paper.

Q: Are the measurements of your spine sizes exact?

A: Coverbind spine sizes are very exact. Sheet capacity is based upon 20 lb bond paper. If you choose to use a heavier stock of paper you may have to go up to the next spine size.  To make a professional impression always use the cover size selector to ensure that you select the right size cover for your document regardless of the paper weight.

Q:  What is the purpose of the bookbinding material in the spine?
